Seldom before has it become more important for our sawmilling sector to pull together and work in unison. It is the tough times that define us, and we need to encourage sawmills to see the value in being part of a collective association like SSA.
Thank you for the trust placed in me by our executive and members to fill the role of Chairman for the coming year. May we emerge from the current conundrum stronger and more unified than before.

It is my privilege to present the Chairman’s Report for the South African sawmilling industry for the 2024/2025 financial year. This period has been marked by a complex interplay of economic scenarios, socio-political shifts locally and globally, along with industry-specific dynamics.
Despite these challenges, the industry continues to demonstrate its resilience, adapting to local and global pressures to weather the storm. Through a survivalist mindset, growth and long-term sustainability may once again be at the forefront of the business strategy.
